Name of Study: Action Du Leucocyanidol Sur L'hyaluronidase (Action Of Leucocyanidol On Hyaluronidase)
Conducted by: M. F. Tayeau and Mme. G. Lefevre
Published in: Bull. Soc. Pharm. Bordeaux
Publication date: May 15, 1956
Where study conducted: Laboratory of chemical and medical biology of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Faculty of Bordeaux University
Material used for study: Leucocyanidol, Masquelier's extract from peanut skins
In-vitro study: Yes
Type of tissue: hyaluronidase from umbilical cord
Dosages used: 0.5, 0.1, 0.01mg per cm solutions
Summary/Abstract: The magnitude of rat-paw oedema induced with serotonin, varrageenin or prostaglandin E, is decreased to a statistically significant extent with the naturally occurring procynidin. In the case of carrageenin-oedema, procyanidin is about twice as effective as phenyibutazone.
Acknowledgments: The procyanidin used in the experiments was provided by Professor Masquelier (Bordeaux) to whom the authors express their thanks.
