Cardiovascular Benefits of OPC

Primary Source® Cardiovascular Regimen offers the most comprehensive daily nutritional support for cardio vascular health. Our regimen consists of our OPC GrapeGold® and CardioQ10® (liquid Coenzyme Q10 gel cap). Our OPC GrapeGold® provides the nutritional support necessary for the maintenance of a healthy heart.* Through reducing platelet aggregation, strengthening vascular membranes, and safeguarding against cellular destruction, normal blood flow is supported and maintained.* Our CardioQ10 is a super portent (100 mg) gel cap that offers superior protection to the heart by increasing available oxygen and helping to stabilize rhythm. When used together on a daily basis the user is provided a superior dietary supplementation program.

Oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPC), is a substance found in many plants worldwide. However, they are most commercially abundant and derived from semillon grape seed (Vitis vinifera) and maritine pine bark (Pinus maritima). First isolated by Dr. Masquelier, only the specific compound ratio (not a "generic extract") from a proprietary extraction process yields the proper molecular complex that is studied in depth, world-wide for their health properties as superior antioxidants and unique collagen re-builder and strengthener. Collagen is the building block of connective tissue, veins, arteries, ligaments, heart, muscles and tendons throughout the body.

Primary Source OPC GrapeGold® is the original compound that Dr. Masquelier developed and many french doctors have prescribed since the 1950s for their clinically proven benefits to vascular health. They have been shown to improve capillary fragility, permeability, inhibit platelet aggregation and reduce LDL cholesterol. The individual components of OPC and their cofactors, catechin and taxifolin, have also been isolated and studied, demonstrating key health benefits to the circulatory system.

OPCs are clinically proven to improve the integrity of blood vessel walls and promote blood flow with nutrients and oxygen to tissues of the human body. Dr. Masquelier demonstrated that OPC can protect, strengthen and repair blood vessels. OPC effectively repairs and protects the collagen and elastin (protein) that make up our vascular system. OPC protects the inner walls of the blood vessels against destructive enzymes, decay and free radical damage.

Maintaining the health of collagen is critically important for vessel suppleness, strength and smoothness of our veins, arteries and capillaries. This promotes unobstructed blood flow to deliver nutrients to the tissues to perform their functions.

OPC has also demonstrated superior bioavailability. These compounds are efficiently absorbed in the small intestines and transported through the blood to the heart muscle and other tissues of the body.

CardioQ10 and Heart Health:

Coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinone) is a fat-soluble nutrient, which was first isolated in 1957. It is synthesized in the liver and is provided in various foods such as meat and fish. It is found within the mitochondria (energy producing part of cell) of cells. Coenzyme Q10 is an electron carrier and is utilized in the manufacturing of ATP energy. It is highly concentrated in cardiac muscle tissue. Coenzyme Q10 levels in humans have been shown to diminish with age and during diseases such as cardiovascular and Parkinson's. In addition, there are certain drugs such as Lovastatin that reduce the body's own production of Coenzyme Q10.

The main benefit of coenzyme Q10 is that it has antioxidant properties to quench free radicals, which damage cells. There have been many human clinical studies administering Coenzyme Q10 to show significant improvements in cardiovascular patients. The contraction of the heart depends on the functioning of the myocardial tissue. Myocardial ischemia and contractility dysfunction are observed with myocardial infarcts. Limited oxygen is delivered to the heart because of occluded arteries and a reduction in contractility force. Coenzyme Q10 has been shown to improve contractility, heart rhythm and protects the myocardial tissue. In a few studies, there was a need to reduce cardiovascular medicine. Coenzyme Q10 is safe, but should first consult with their nutritionally aware health care practitioner.
